The Invictus Games 2017 held in Toronto this year from September 23-30, has received vast media coverage from the city and surrounding areas, along with international coverage. Prince Harry was an active person at viewing the games and motivating the disabled competitors who are also all veterans. The Invictus Games is held to highlight people with disabilities and veteran competitors, it displays how they are still active members of society and participates in the community. The Invictus Games provides a valuable stage for veteran competitors to be celebrated and renowned for their sacrifice as well as their athletic prowess.

For disabled individuals and disabled veterans who are on ODSP, it can be difficult for those who are trying to find work. Back to work programs provided by The Disability Channel in partnership with Owlware ltd. help people to upgrade their skills in order to re-enter the workforce. They specialize in digital media programming for people interested in advancing their skills in video production and editing, social media, web design, podcasting and journalism. These innovative programs are available to people receiving ODSP benefits.

It is important for all nations to show empathy and compassion towards those who have sacrificed a part of themselves for our freedom and independence. Being proud of those individuals a pertinent element of The Invictus. The opportunity that the games give the country can help give support, donations and spread awareness for the disabled participants and their families.
